Firefox Overtakes Internet Explorer in Europe

Mozilla’s Firefox has overtaken Microsoft’s (MSFT) Internet Explorer as the most popular Web browser in Europe for the first time according to a report by StatCounter.
Firefox has Chrome to thank, at least partly, for its ability to overthrow IE as the European browser leader. Google’s browser has quickly been gaining popularity across the pond — nearly tripling its European usage throughout 2010, and stealing market share from Microsoft.
In North America, the pie is a bit different from our EU counterparts where Internet Explorer makes up 49% of the market, compared to Firefox’s 27%, Chrome’s 13% and Safari’s 10%.
